Art in the Park 2026

Begun in 1959, Art in the Park is the oldest and largest fine arts festival in mid-Missouri. The festival features artists from across the United States, displaying a variety of media including painting, drawing, photography, pottery, jewelry, fibers, sculpture, wood, and glass.

Each year, the Columbia Art League hosts a call for proposals for art installations at the festival. My work, Golden Solstice, was selected.

Golden Solstice is a vibrant, immersive sculptural installation inspired by summers spent at the lake. Drawing from Missouri’s riversides, the work features wildflowers, birds, butterflies, and gentle lake waves. The piece transforms the festival landscape into a playful, graphic environment visitors can interact with and commemorate their attendance at the fest with a photo.

The installation will stand approximately 7’ tall by 8’ wide. While the background elements will be painted onto outdoor wood panel, some elements will be 3-dimensional, popping out from the landscape. Inspired by bold graphic illustrations and using a folk-inspired color palette, the installation celebrates the beauty and biodiversity of the water’s edge while creating an inviting and joyful landmark within the Art in the Park festival.

Installation photos coming soon! The fest will take place in Columbia, Missouri, June 6-7, 2026.
