Wherever Forever
Works by Angela Zonunpari and Amy Jarding
Wherever Forever is an exhibition that I curated to showcase the work of Angela Zonunpari and Amy Jarding. The exhibition features weavings, quilts, and constructions that serve as ruminations on patience and practice. Both Zonunpari and Jarding welcome adaptation, exploration, and interaction while simultaneously focusing on routine and intention. Jarding writes, “My creative process has remained these miniature isolated journeys – experiments with color, viscosity, patience...avoidance.” The resulting work is an incarnation of process-driven research and learning. Zonunpari describes her work as "an embodiment of my need for distinct markers to become a focused reader, an invitation to return and hone in on that practice, and an intention to embrace slowness through the act of working in texts and textiles." By engaging in the ritual of artistic practice, both artists find a balance between a dialogue and something ineffable. Wherever signifies place and a non-place. Everywhere and nowhere all at once. Forever never comes to an end and continues endlessly. The work in this exhibition resists immediacy and definitive answers and speaks to the empowerment of connecting with our inner selves, materials, and each other.
Wherever Forever will run from July 1-July 22, 2022, at stop-gap projects in Columbia, Missouri.
