Art in the Park

Begun in 1959, Art in the Park is the oldest and largest fine arts festival in mid-Missouri. The festival features artists from across the United States, displaying a variety of media including painting, drawing, photography, pottery, jewelry, fibers, sculpture, wood, and glass.

Each year, the Columbia Art League hosts a call for proposals for art installations at the festival. My work, In the Garden, was selected.

This installation is a celebration of spring’s renewal and summer’s warmth. It’s a tribute to the blooming life that follows a long winter. The colors evoke nostalgia for summers past and that feeling of wonder that came with exploring nature as a child. I can still recall the magic of exploring our garden, the scent of flowers in the air, and the sprinkle of mushrooms in our yard each June. Through In the Garden, I hope to inspire a reconnection with the inner child and the simple wonders of the outdoors.
