Art in the Park

Begun in 1959, Art in the Park is the oldest and largest fine arts festival in mid-Missouri. The festival features artists from across the United States, displaying a variety of media including painting, drawing, photography, pottery, jewelry, fibers, sculpture, wood, and glass.

Each year, the Columbia Art League hosts a call for proposals for art installations at the festival. My work, Midsummer, was selected.

Midsummer is a celebration of summer’s renewal and a tribute to the radiant life that follows a long, cold winter. The installation carries the warmth of sun-drenched afternoons and evokes nostalgia for summers past—the scent of flowers thick in the air, the sprinkling of mushrooms beneath the trees, and the way the world shimmered with possibility in June’s golden glow. Through Midsummer, I invite viewers to linger in a sense of ease and wonder—to reconnect with their inner child and the quiet magic of the outdoors.
